Sultan holds a master’s in Arabic and German as a Foreign Language from the University of Leipzig; this has given him a solid theoretical basis in contemporary didactics of foreign languages and initially exposed him to international language teaching. Sultan has extensive managerial experience in Arabic language development; he has held directorial positions at internationally recognized institutes such as the World Learning Oman Center in Muscat; where he developed and implemented Arabic language programs. He was responsible for the SIT Study Abroad program, the Critical Language Scholarship Arabic Program in Oman (CLS) and the Diwan-funded Salaam program to name a few; as well as developing many customized courses for various other organizations.
Hussein is Noor Majan Training Institute’s Director of Arabic Programs; he holds a master’s degree in Teaching Arabic from the University of Nizwa and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. on the implementation and usage of classical Arabic poetry in the AFL classroom. He has been with the Omani Ministry of Education for over ten years, first as an Arabic teacher and then as an inspector of all Arabic teachers in the district; he is now a consultant for the Government on their Arabic faculties.
He has taught Arabic courses to the highest International levels and worked with programs such as Critical Language Scholarship “CLS,” USA and Salam program in Muscat, Nizwa, and Salalah. His experiences in teaching Arabic to both International and Omani students and expertise in Arabic grammar, rhetoric and classic poetry inspired him to bring the idea of high-quality Arabic teaching to his home region of Ibri. Here he felt he could combine his teaching methodology and philosophy with an authentic Arabic environment conducive to Arabic practice on a daily basis.
Saif is one of our most dedicated and talented teachers. With a PhD in the techniques of teaching the Arabic language, he uses modern teaching techniques and authentic source materials to empower students to attain their highest potential in Arabic. His classes are challenging while supportive and let you develop all language skills. Saif is also always ready to discuss any current topic that ignites your interest – in Arabic of course!
Youssef is a dedicated teacher with almost 30 years’ experience in foreign-language teaching. He holds a Master’s degree in TESOL and works as a consultant with the Omani Ministry of Education, whose employees know they can rely on his ability to design and implement successful courses that cater to the specific needs of various groups regardless of the members’ ages and prior qualifications. Youssef is also a great team player who advises and assists other colleagues. After having provided host-family accommodation for several of NMTI’s international students, he decided to expand the venue for applying his AFL-teaching skills beyond his home. Now the “larger audience” – the many NMTI students in his classes – benefit from his passion for teaching.
Mohammed is our Administrative Assistant. While studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management Mohammed joined us as an Arabic language partner. After his recent graduation he is now responsible for the smooth running of all our English and Arabic courses. He is the go-to person for all our students and staff and people from Ibri who want to study English at our Institute. He is also an invaluable resource on Omani culture and the town of Ibri. Whatever you are looking for, Mohammed usually knows where to find it. And you will find him most helpful in practicing your newly gained knowledge of Omani dialect.
Omar is our Public Relations Officer. He is responsible for the smooth running of the Institute. He is often found liaising between NMTI and governmental bodies and private institutions. As he drives our bus to and from school, he’s also great for conversation practice between the dormitory and the Institute and always ready to point out and explain features of Omani culture.
Iman and Mohammed are the face of Noor Majan, you meet them daily at the reception. The reception is staffed daily from Sundays to Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and on Thursdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Both Iman and Mohammed can help you out with advice about things to do and see in Ibri and on how to get there.
Rehab Al Farsi
Rehab joined Noor Majan in 2017, after finishing her degree in Arabic language and literature and work experience as lector and teacher. After a thorough training on the specifics of teaching Arabic as a foreign language she’s a valuable addition to our team.
Noha Al Balushi
Noha joined us in 2018 and is enthusiastic about teaching conversation. She’s especially engaging during the media lessons where she thoroughly enjoys discussions and debates. Noha is open to discuss even controversial topics and is ready to give you an insight into Omani culture and way of thinking. She’s currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language at Nizwa University.
Ibtisam Al Maqbali
After completing her Bachelor’s degree, Ibtisam followed her passion: the teaching of the Arabic language. She gained an additional teaching qualification and has been teaching with Noor Majan Training Institute since 2013. Students love her witty and creative ways of explaining new words through her outstanding drawing talent. She keeps classes lively and engaging and has been involved in developing NMTI’s media and dialect curriculum. Ibitsam is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language at Nizwa University.
Saif heads the institute’s branch in Muscat and is the manager of all academic and administrative processes there. He holds a master’s degree in Arabic language teaching and has extensive work experience as TAFL teacher and director of Arabic language programs as well as head of academic department in different international language schools in Oman. He’s enthusiastic about building and leading one of the best Arabic learning centers in the Gulf and has a passion for international education.
Mohammed is our Administrative Assistant. He is responsible for everything logistics and transportation-related and mans our reception during the work day. You can contact him whenever you need anything in the institute, library, computer lab or apartments.
Oliver is our student affairs officer in Muscat and also responsible for Noor Majan’s reachout and marketing. He has been living in Muscat for many years and can help you make the leap from your home to your host culture. Oliver plans and facilitates all cultural activities and excursions and accompanies them. He’s your go-to person for any questions about what to do in Muscat, how to get there and how to understand and adjust to the intricate Omani culture and the local dialect of which he’s an expert speaker.
Asma holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic literature from the University of Qatar and has several years of experience in the field of TAFL at different language institutes in Muscat. She joined us since the opening of our Muscat branch in early 2018 and has since been a very lively and outgoing teacher that shares her interest in different media with her students and doesn’t hesitate to discuss all topics that interest them.
Neama Al Bahloli
After her undergraduate studies in Islamic civilization and Arabic language, Neama moved on to receive a Master’s degree in Arabic literature from Nizwa university. She completed several years in a Muscat private school before transferring to the field of adult education in Arabic as a foreign language. Her passion for this profession has brought her to Noor Majan.
Fatima Al Bahloli
Fatima holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic literature from the College of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Dubai, and a master’s degree in modern literature from the University of Nizwa. She has extensive experience in teaching Arabic to both native speakers and international students and joined us in 2018.
Shifa Al Amri
Shifa brings to Noor Majan her passion for public speaking, broadcasting and an interest in researching social issues. She’s currently finalizing her thesis to obtain a master’s degree in TAFL and has joined our institute in mid-2019.
Al Khansa Al Rawahi
Al Khansa comes from a background of translation studies at Sultan Qaboos University but started her career in teaching Arabic as a foreign language after her graduation where she has gained experience since 2016 in different language schools. Since early 2019 Al Khansa has been a valuable addition to Noor Majan Muscat’s faculty.
